Recall from the text that there are four common sorts of aesthetic evaluation, for four types of art (broadly defined). These are: verbal/literary art; visual arts; performative arts; and appetitive (sensual) arts. We made the point that these are certainly not exclusive categories—an art form like cinema combines literary, performative and visual elements. And there may well be other types of art that don’t fit easily into one of the categories. But in the vast majority of cases, the form of art examined falls clearly into one of these categories.
